Hi, I'm Emma, and four years ago I was just like you.

I was working in job that I didn't love and would sit on the bus to work dreaming of a life where I wasn't rushing and juggling so many things.

I was stressed out trying to manage childcare drop offs and pick ups and generally just trying to get by. I saw a life coach and she planted the seed of starting my own business, but I couldn't believe that I had the skills or know-how to do it.

However, I did know how to write a resume as I'd previously received some job coaching following a redundancy. I had started helping friends and colleagues with their job applications, so this became my business idea. I had no idea if anyone would pay me for my services, but thought I'd give it a go.

So I bit the bullet and started Rescue my Resume in January 2018. I had no idea how to start a business, but learned along the way, and haven't looked back.

I have quadrupled my prices since then and business is thriving. I work less than I used to and am paid more. I have time to go to the gym, sit in cafes, do my work and still make it to school pick up. 

There is a lot of demand for resume writers - an essentially pandemic-proof job. Demand has increased as the employment market has become more competitive, and your work can be done completely remotely.

I have learned a lot over the last three years in business.

6 step-by-step Modules

For each module there is are video tutorials plus written information in the online portal (with lots of cheat sheets). You also get a Zoom call with me for each of the modules, to ask questions and gain feedback on your business ideas.

  1. Module 1 - Business Basics: This is the foundation module where you learn about setting up a new business, including structure, planning, website, social media accounts, banking, legal, insurance, accounting and how to get paid.

  2. Module 2 - Finding clients, your niche and marketing: This module covers how to find a niche in the market and your ideal client (or avatar). It then moves into how to sell to your ideal client using social media and email marketing.

  3. Module 3 -  Client Process, systems, packages and pricing: Here you learn how to set up business systems and processes, including how to work with clients in a resume writing business and how to run a resume consultation. I also teach you how to design your packages and choose your pricing structure.

  4. Module 4 - Job Applications 101 + Resumes: Here you learn the basics of how to write job applications, including how to write a modern, professional resume suitable for the Australian market. I'll teach you how to tailor it for different sectors, clients and roles, and you get lots of resume templates plus feedback on your work.

  5. Module 5 - Cover Letters + Key Selection Criteria: I'll teach you how to write a cover letter that really sells your client and wins interviews, including templates that you can adapt. You'll also learn how to write key selection criteria responses in their various formats.

  6. Module 6 -  LinkedIn and Job interview strategy: You'll learn how to create a keyword optimised, complete LinkedIn profile for your clients. Then I'll teach you how to coach your clients for job interviews, including how to respond to introductory and behavioural questions.


Templates and Tip Sheets

You'll get the Rescue my Resume resume, cover letter and key selection criteria response templates, plus suggested variations and customisations to suit you and your clients. Plus you get loads of tip sheets for each module.

Step-by-Step Guidance

I'll talk you through every aspect of each module, with practical information on how to set up a business, work with clients and actually write the job applications!

For each module you get a one hour Zoom call with Emma, step by step instructions in the portal, plus a private Facebook group where you can ask questions and get support.

Feedback + Mentoring

You get individual support and mentoring from Emma throughout the program, with 6 x 1 hour Zoom calls. Plus once you start writing resumes (I recommend doing some free of charge first) she'll provide feedback on your work (up to two job applications) and trouble shoot any issues with you via the Facebook group for one year.
